The Mindful Path to Compassion, Stress Reduction, & Equanimity

Come experience this structured five week program designed to cultivate self compassion, stress reduction and equanimity (composure and calm especially under stress). This course is four ninety minute sessions and includes a four hour silent retreat on February 29th which is optional but highly suggested. The program is rooted in the world renowned Mindfulness - Based Stress Reduction program, developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, which is the gold standard for stress reduction programs around the globe. This program is structured to offer graduated experiences in mindfulness practices, combined with practical integration techniques that infuse our daily life with attention and discernment. Emphasis is on cultivating focus, concentration, insight and compassion which will benefit participants and their families.

Self-compassion entails being warm and understanding toward ourselves when we suffer, fail, or feel inadequate, rather than ignoring our pain or flagellating ourselves with self-criticism. Self-compassionate people recognize that being imperfect, failing, and experiencing life difficulties is inevitable, so they tend to be gentle with themselves. with painful experiences rather than getting angry when life falls short of set ideals. Combined with improved self awareness and mindfulness, we can master our thoughts, emotions and actions for our own wellbeing and that of others.

About the Instructor:  Dr. Scott Treatman is a recent transplant to Vero Beach from upstate NY. He is Board Certified in Occupational Medicine, Family Practice, Certified in Medical Acupuncture and is a registered medical marijuana prescriber in Florida and New York. Scott is also an expert in, and a teacher of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction programs.


He has facilitated community-based programs, programs for teachers, healthcare providers, behavioral counselors and corporations. Scott did his mindfulness training through the UMass Medical Center with Jon Kabat-Zinn who founded the UMass Center for Mindfulness where the first Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program was launched and has since spread around the globe. Dr. T has been teaching mindfulness and meditation since 1997 including research with the VA system, looking at outcomes of mindfulness training among Vets with PTSD.
