As a yearly ritual, you can take time to consider what changes would be beneficial changes to make for your life in the coming year, make a commitment to the practice, and renew yourself in the foundation of your well-being. Join Sheila this New Year for a two hour Iyengar Yoga workshop and discover the benefits of this practice.

A unique feature of Iyengar yoga is the use of props (such as blocks, pillows, chairs, and bolsters), which help students attain perfect alignment in each pose. Iyengar yoga also involves performing poses in a specific sequence in order to maximize their beneficial effects. By paying close attention to anatomical details and the alignment of each posture, Iyengar Yoga is the practice of precision. Poses are held for long periods and often modified with props. This method is designed to systematically cultivate strength, flexibility, stability, and awareness, and can be therapeutic for specific conditions.

 Iyengar Yoga, one of the world’s most widely-practiced forms, emphasizes correct alignment of all parts of the body within each yoga pose. This precision builds strength and stamina–balance and flexibility–and a new sense of well being. Achieving meditation in action, students learn to exist fully and vibrantly in the present moment.
